Feng Yun Summer Go Workshop

Our end-of-summer workshop will be held on weekdays (Monday to Friday) at the Madison Suites Hotel in Somerset, New Jersey. The emphasis this year will be on significantly improving playing strength by at least one rank, through a combination of lectures, practice, and problem solving during the day, plus optional homework assignments for evening self study.

This workshop is suitable for go players of all ages. Students will be grouped according to their level and experience, so that everyone receives appropriate instruction to address their needs.

The daily schedule is as follows.

9:00 a.m. - 10:25 a.m.  Go instruction
10:25 a.m. - 10:35 p.m.  Snack break
10:35 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Go instruction
12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Lunch break and supervised free play
2:00 p.m. - 3:25 p.m.  Go instruction
3:25 p.m. - 3:35 p.m.  Snack break
3:35 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Go instruction
5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Dinner and supervised free play (except Friday)

On the first day (Monday) students should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to complete registration before the class begins. The workshop teaching schedule starts at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m. every day, and students who are not staying overnight in the hotel can leave after 5:00 p.m. Please note that on the last day (Friday) all students should expect to leave shortly after 5:00 p.m.

Light refreshments will be provided during snack breaks. Workshop staff will facilitate obtaining lunch and dinner at cost for students, but arrangements must be made in advance and a deposit is required. Day students can bring their own brown bag lunch and go home for dinner. The hotel provides breakfast for hotel guests.

The Madison Suites Hotel offers a special rate of $50.00 per room per night including taxes. (If two students share a room, then the cost would be $25.00 each.) Students who want to stay in the hotel overnight should make their own room reservation and pay the hotel directly; please mention the "Feng Yun Go Workshop" when you call the hotel. Workshop staff will be in the hotel at all times in case students need assistance.

Registered students are required to complete a medical release form before they begin the workshop.
